Chank, a brown bear living in Katmai National Park in the state of Alaska, USA, was found to be the fattest bear in the country. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was provided by People magazine. The contest took place during the "Fat Bear Week" held from September 23 to 30.
This annual competition in Alaska is aimed at assessing the body weight of brown bears before they enter hibernation. Typically, a male bear weighs between 320 and 400 kilograms in summer, while in autumn this figure reaches approximately 550 kilograms.
This year, a total of 11 bears participated in the contest. The winner was determined by online voting.
Chank received 96,362 votes, far surpassing his main rival, bear number 856. According to reports, Chank arrived at Katmai in 2025 with an injury on his left jaw but quickly adapted to catching and eating red salmon, his primary food source.
This event demonstrates his health and adaptability. Thus, Chank was recognized as the fattest and healthiest brown bear in Alaska.
