Iran President Masoud Pezeshkiyon once again emphasized the necessity of relocating the capital from Tehran to another location during a meeting with entrepreneurs from Hormozgan province. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, this decision is important and essential for the country's future. If the current ecological and social conditions of Tehran are ignored, the problems may worsen.
The president also mentioned that he has proposed to the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to move the capital to the Persian Gulf. Pezeshkiyon reminded of serious issues such as the reduction of water reserves and land subsidence.
He stated that in some areas of Tehran, the land is sinking by 30 centimeters, which increases ecological, social, and economic risks. Additionally, water shortages, air pollution, and soil subsidence are worsening the living conditions of the population.
For this reason, important decisions regarding the relocation of the capital must be made. Tehran has been the capital of Iran since 1795, and its population now exceeds 13 million.
This requires a large population and complex infrastructure. The president is proposing to move the capital to the southern coastal area.
This step will serve the economic, political, and ecological interests of the state. According to Pezeshkiyon, relocating the capital will greatly contribute to Iran's sustainable development.
