Mohammad Reza Bahonar, a member of Iran's Expediency Discernment Council, announced that the enforcement of the country's mandatory hijab law has been suspended. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The decision was announced through the “Free Iran” Telegram channel. According to Bahonar, the hijab-related law is no longer legally binding and is not being enforced in practice.
He emphasized that wearing the hijab is no longer compulsory, and no fines or other legal consequences will be applied in this regard. The police have also been informed about this change.
This statement was made against the backdrop of long-standing social debates and discussions in Iranian society regarding the hijab issue. For the first time in the country's history, wearing the hijab will be accepted as a personal choice.
Every woman can now choose whether or not to wear the hijab according to her own will. This change is regarded as an important historic step in Iran's legal and social system.
This decision further strengthens the principle of respecting personal freedom and choice, and serves to promote equality and legal justice in society.
