Due to a severe snowstorm in the eastern part of Mount Everest in Tibet, nearly a thousand tourists have been trapped in camps. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to official Chinese sources, rescue operations have begun and some tourists have been evacuated to safe locations. The snowfall intensified starting Friday evening, resulting in some tents being buried under snow and collapsing.
Some of the tourists are suffering from the effects of the cold. For this reason, access to the Everest scenic area has been temporarily suspended.
The weather conditions in the area are severe, with heavy rains in Nepal causing floods and landslides, resulting in at least 47 deaths. In China, more than 150,000 people have been relocated due to Typhoon Matmo.
Mount Everest is located at an altitude of 8,849 meters and is considered the highest peak in the world. Every year, thousands of tourists attempt to climb this mountain, but due to the increase in dangerous situations in recent years, there is a growing need to strengthen safety measures.
