The chikungunya virus is rapidly spreading in Guangdong province in southern China. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, from September 28 to October 4, the virus was detected in 3,181 patients. This figure has significantly increased compared to previous weeks.
For example, from September 21 to 27, 3,153 new cases were recorded, and from September 14 to 20, there were 2,426 new cases. Experts emphasize that the number of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, which are the main carriers of the virus, has increased.
Recently, due to heavy rains and typhoons, the habitats of mosquitoes have become more favorable, leading to the widespread transmission of the infection. Currently, there is no effective vaccine or specific treatment method against chikungunya.
The incubation period of the virus lasts from three to twelve days. Symptoms of the disease include fever, chills, joint pain, and skin rashes.
Doctors urge the public to strictly follow personal hygiene rules and take measures to protect themselves from mosquitoes. Since this situation poses a serious threat to public health, prompt preventive measures are of great importance.
