A fire broke out on the evening of October 5 at Sawai Man Singh hospital located in Jaipur, India. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The fire started at 23:20 in the hospital's neuro-intensive care unit. The incident escalated in a room where paper documents, medical equipment, and blood samples were stored.
According to official information, the cause of the fire may have been a short circuit in the electrical wiring. At the time of the fire, there were 11 patients in the unit and another 13 people in the adjacent wards.
When firefighters arrived, the entire unit was filled with thick smoke, making the evacuation process difficult. Rescuers had to break windows on the opposite side of the building to spray water.
The firefighting efforts lasted approximately one and a half hours. Patients were evacuated along with their beds and temporarily moved outside the hospital.
As a result of this fire, 9 people died, and several other patients were admitted to the hospital in serious condition. Such incidents have been increasing in India in recent years.
In January, a fire also occurred in a residential building in the country, resulting in 17 deaths. The government provided financial assistance to the families of the victims.
Experts believe that such tragedies indicate insufficient safety measures in many hospitals in India. They emphasize the need to upgrade electrical networks and strengthen fire protection systems.
They also warn that additional fire safety measures must be taken. Such actions will help prevent similar incidents in hospitals in the future.
