Numerous drone attacks were carried out by Ukraine in Russia's Volgograd region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the regional head Andrey Bocharov, the strikes on the fuel and energy infrastructure in the Kotovsky district caused fires due to drone debris. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and are extinguishing the fires.
No official information has been provided about the targeted facilities. Local residents informed the Astra publication that a fire broke out at the Korobkovsky gas processing plant owned by the "Lukoil" company.
This plant is one of the key enterprises for natural gas processing in the Southern Federal District. Additionally, new satellite images revealed fire traces near the "Yefimovka" oil pumping station, which is part of the "Transneft-Privolga" joint-stock company.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 19 Ukrainian drones were shot down within one day, nine of which were destroyed specifically over the Volgograd sky. However, drone debris and the strikes caused fires at some facilities.
Since August, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been regularly attacking Russia's energy chain, particularly oil and gas processing plants and pumping stations. In the last two months, every third oil refinery in the country has been targeted.
In September, operations were partially or completely halted at the Novokuybishevsk petrochemical production zone, Gazprom's Astrakhan gas processing complex, and Rosneft's Ryazan petrochemical production zone supplying fuel to the Moscow region. In the first week of October, at least five more plants were reported to have been struck.
Such attacks may lead to partial disruptions in the supply system, which adds additional pressure on internal logistics and inventory management. Increased activity of air defense systems is expected in border areas.
Disruptions at pumping stations and gas-oil processing enterprises may cause local changes in the fuel market. So far, officials have not provided additional information about the extent of the damage or restoration timelines.
Nevertheless, the recent attacks have once again drawn public attention to the vulnerabilities of Russia's energy infrastructure.
