On the evening of October 9, a powerful explosion occurred in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result, Nur Vali Mahsud, the leader of the "Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan" (TTP) group, was killed. Local media outlets reported this.
The explosion took place in the central part of Kabul, specifically near Abdulhaq intersection, as well as in the districts of Kart-e-Nau, Shahr-e-Nau, Taymani, and Khairkhana. According to local residents, a Land Cruiser vehicle exploded as a result of an airstrike.
Nur Vali Mahsud, aged 47, was in this vehicle. He was appointed as the group's leader after Mullah Fazlullah was killed in 2018.
He was internationally wanted by the Pakistani government. According to sources, Mahsud was involved in kidnapping and robbery to finance the network of militants.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the official representative of the Taliban movement, confirmed the explosion and stated that an investigation is underway regarding the incident. Some sources within the movement indicated that this attack was an airstrike carried out by Pakistan.
This event coincided with a period of heightened tensions between the two countries. The Pakistani government has repeatedly accused that TTP militants are being sheltered in Afghan territory.
Following the attack, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif issued a statement on social media, directly referring to the airstrikes in Kabul. According to him, the Afghan Taliban must be held accountable for harboring Pakistani militants.
The minister emphasized, "We have lost patience with terrorists and those supporting them." Afghanistan's representative to the UN, Nosir Ahmad Faiq, described this action as an aggression violating the country's territorial integrity.
He stressed that such illegal actions should not be carried out under any pretext, as they harm peace and stability in the region. According to sources, Taliban commanders in Kabul were called to be on alert following the incident.
Local media reminded that this was not Pakistan's first air operation in Afghan territory. At the end of September, reports circulated about the elimination of Muhammad Ihsani, the commander of the "Islamic State – Khorasan" branch, during a special forces operation in Mazar-i-Sharif.
The recent incident in Kabul indicates that tensions between the two countries have intensified again. Instead of peace, the sounds of explosions and smoke are heard, creating a complicated situation.
