A 12-year-old Uzbek boy living in Turkey ran away from home due to disagreements with his mother and stepfather. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The local police in Istanbul and the Uzbek Consulate General intervened in the situation. The boy approached the police and provided information about the difficulties and pressure he faced in his family.
The mother had previously been married in Uzbekistan, then divorced, moved to Turkey, and established a family based on a religious marriage with a Turkish citizen. Initially, the boy was under the care of his grandmother in Uzbekistan, but in June 2024, his mother brought him to Istanbul.
Because the documents were not formalized, the boy was not admitted to a local school and was unable to receive education for over a year. After the incident became known, the police ensured the boy's safety and handed him over to the Consulate General.
The boy underwent a medical examination and received necessary assistance. The Consulate General processed the documents, and the boy was returned to Uzbekistan.
He is currently continuing his education in his homeland with the help of relevant institutions. This incident serves as a warning for our compatriots living abroad.
