The world's first vertical floating solar power plant has been launched in Germany. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This project was implemented by SINN Power company and is located in the Yayis quarry in the Starnberg district of Bavaria. The plant occupies less than five percent of the water reservoir area and is capable of supplying electricity to hundreds of households.
The total capacity of the plant is 1870 kilowatts, producing approximately two million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. The solar panels are installed vertically at a depth of 1.6 meters below the water surface using a patented technology called Skipp-Float.
This method especially increases energy production efficiency during morning and evening hours. At least four-meter-wide water corridors are left between the panels, which serve to maintain air circulation, proper light distribution, and ecological balance.
The electricity is transmitted to the grid through an underwater cable and a connection point in the area. Most importantly, this project causes no harm to nature and makes a significant contribution to environmental protection.
