On October 16, US President Donald Trump made a firm statement regarding the HAMAS movement. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized that if Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip do not cease violence against civilians, the US or its allies will not remain passive. Trump expressed this opinion on his page on the social network Truth Social.
The American leader said: “If they continue killing people, we have only one option — to go in and eliminate them.” Trump did not specify which forces would participate in the operation.
Earlier, Trump had called some of HAMAS’s actions “very bad gangs” and assessed the situation as “all is well.” However, the situation sharply changed after a video depicting an execution in southern Gaza city was circulated.
The video shows the execution of approximately eight people. According to the DPA agency, HAMAS accused these civilians of collaborating with the Israeli army.
The German Foreign Ministry called this incident “horrific,” while the Palestinian Authority strongly condemned the violation of the law. The Israeli government is demanding that HAMAS hand over the bodies of all hostages.
If this is not done, there is a threat of resuming military operations in the Gaza area. According to official information, under the agreement, HAMAS must hand over the bodies of a total of 28 individuals.
So far, 10 bodies have been received, one of which has been identified as an unknown Gaza resident. Trump announced that he would discuss this issue with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In an interview with CNN, he said: “If HAMAS breaks the agreement, Israeli forces will have to return to the streets — they will do this as soon as I say so.” The US president once again emphasized that if HAMAS does not comply with the disarmament conditions, the likelihood of a military strike against it is high.
Analysts believe that Trump’s statement could further escalate the situation around Gaza. However, according to sources in Washington, the White House is not currently discussing a direct military action plan.
The main goal is to ensure the agreement through diplomatic pressure. At the same time, Trump’s recent words indicate a tougher US position on the Gaza conflict.
