A horrific fire occurred in a 21-story residential building in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. This was reported by the local Yonhap agency.
As a result of the incident, one person died and six others were injured to varying degrees. Among the injured, four citizens aged between 50 and 80 were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation and breathing difficulties. Two of them had to jump from the fourth floor of the building, risking their lives to escape the smoke.
According to police, the fire was deliberately set by a 60-year-old man. He used a special sprayer intended for pesticide application to ignite the building and committed suicide. In a letter left before his death, he requested his daughter to take care of his sick mother. Additionally, the letter contained 50,000 won (approximately 35 USD) for his spouse's treatment.
The police found the man's body on the fourth floor and confirmed that his fingerprints matched those on the sprayer used to start the fire.
Firefighters worked for over 1.5 hours to extinguish the intense fire. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
