
Valuable jewelry was stolen from the Louvre Museum in Paris. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the incident that occurred early Sunday morning, three to four criminals broke the window with the help of a crane and entered the area where the French royal jewelry is kept. Then they quickly fled the scene on motorcycles.
Culture Minister Rachida Dati emphasized that the theft was carried out professionally. The criminals took the items in just four minutes, but no one was harmed.
Additionally, one item was found outside during the escape. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated that the theft was well-planned in advance and that the criminals might have carried out similar attacks before.
A special police unit is continuing the investigation. No injuries or harm were reported as a result of the incident.
The Louvre Museum is one of the most visited museums in the world, with over 8.7 million visitors in 2024. Officials had previously issued warnings about increasing museum security and renovating halls housing old exhibits.
This theft was a major blow to French culture and history. The museum is currently temporarily closed, and visitor safety is ensured.
The police are continuing the investigation with the aim of apprehending the thieves soon and recovering the stolen items.
