The Louvre Museum in Paris, one of the world's most famous museums, has once again become a target for criminals. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
On Sunday morning, it was revealed that several ancient exhibits were stolen from the museum. According to the French Ministry of Culture, among the stolen items are a gold crown belonging to the family of Napoleon III from the 19th century, a necklace adorned with blue sapphire stones, and several historical jewelry pieces.
Experts estimate their total value to be approximately 10 million euros. The French government has called this incident a crime against national cultural heritage and has begun elevating the investigation to an international level with the assistance of Interpol.
So far, no suspects have been apprehended, but the police are thoroughly examining surveillance footage around the museum. Following the incident, the Louvre administration temporarily closed the museum and placed all exhibitions under additional security.
Security systems are being reviewed. Experts warn that if the stolen items appear on the black market, it will be very difficult to identify them, as each piece has unique historical patterns and decorations.
For this reason, the French government has sent official warnings to museums and collectors worldwide. This event at the Louvre is considered one of the largest thefts against cultural heritage in Europe in recent years.
