Louvre Museum director Laurence de Car spoke at the French Senate on Tuesday, acknowledging that the museum's video surveillance system is insufficient. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized that there are many shortcomings in the current system. The theft of jewelry that occurred on Sunday revealed several weak points.
De Car stated, “There has been a major failure at the Louvre” and took responsibility for the situation. He announced that he had submitted his resignation, but the Minister of Culture did not accept it.
He also stressed the strengthening of security measures. He requested the installation of barriers against vehicles around the museum, the expansion and updating of the video surveillance system, and the establishment of a police unit inside the museum by the Ministry of the Interior.
Currently, a security plan worth 80 million euros is in effect at the museum. This amount is equivalent to 92.89 million US dollars.
These measures are aimed at further strengthening security at the museum.
