Bird flu in Europe has started much earlier than usual and is spreading rapidly. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to experts, this is the earliest and most widespread outbreak of the disease in the last ten years. Cases of bird flu have been recorded in several dozen countries, posing a serious threat to poultry farms and food supply.
In 2022, a similar situation resulted in the culling of millions of birds. The disease is mainly spreading through migratory wild birds.
From August to mid-October, more than 50 new cases were identified in ten European Union countries as well as in the United Kingdom. Among the most affected countries are Poland, Spain, and Germany.
Experts warn that due to the early spread of the virus, this winter season could be more complicated. After new cases were detected in Belgium and France, governments introduced measures to keep all types of poultry indoors.
This measure is considered necessary to prevent further spread of the disease. Usually, such restrictions are applied during the winter season, but this time the early outbreak is forcing governments to prepare in advance.
The World Health Organization has stated that the risk of the virus transmitting to humans is currently low. Nevertheless, it is emphasized that serious attention must be paid to cases where transmission from animals to humans is possible.
A vaccination campaign for ducks has started in France and is regarded as an important step in controlling the disease. Bird flu is not limited to Europe; it is also being observed in the United States, Asia, and other regions.
In the United States, more than 180 million birds have been culled due to the disease, while Brazil has been declared free of the disease. These cases once again demonstrate the global threat of bird flu and require strengthening of appropriate measures.
