
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Balikesir province located in the western part of Turkey. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Information was provided by Turkey's Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya. As a result of the earthquake, 26 people were injured.
All the injured received medical assistance at the hospital and were later discharged to their homes. There is no information about casualties.
Following the incident, 12 aftershocks of magnitude 4 and above were recorded. Seismologists from Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) stated that the earthquake's epicenter was in Balikesir.
The impact of the earthquake was felt not only in the province but also in Istanbul, Izmir, and Manisa provinces. In the Sindirgi district of Balikesir, three residential buildings and one shop collapsed.
Currently, rescuers are inspecting the damaged buildings, and residents have been temporarily relocated to safe areas. According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, all government services are operational.
Citizens have been warned to stay alert and adhere to seismic safety regulations. Authorities in Istanbul, Izmir, and Manisa provinces have reported no damages following the earthquake.
