On October 30, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory recorded a rare event. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Sun, which usually has active eruptions, has this time entered a completely quiet state. For the first time this year, the solar activity index was observed to drop to zero, experts report.
According to scientists, no eruptions or radiation events have been observed on the side of the Sun facing the Earth in the last 48 hours. Processes occurring on the far side of the Sun were not taken into account, as it is not possible to record them accurately.
This situation is considered a very unusual calm phase in solar activity. Experts note that this year the Sun's activity has been unstable and highly variable.
After several days of strong eruptions, sometimes long-lasting quiet periods are observed. This is one of the natural, yet complex and uncertain processes of the solar cycle.
It is reported that the last time the solar activity index dropped to zero was in April 2024. However, shortly after, in May, the strongest solar eruptions in the last 20 years were recorded.
This event caused level five magnetic storms on Earth. Astronomers consider the current calm state to be temporary.
They believe that in the coming days, new active regions located on the far side of the Sun may rotate toward the Earth, and as a result, solar activity is expected to increase again. In conclusion, although scientists are monitoring the Sun's several days of calm, this situation does not rule out the possibility of a "storm before the calm."
The Sun, the heart of nature, still holds many mysteries.
