US Secretary of State Marko Rubio announced plans to make an official visit to the five Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan – in 2026. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He made this announcement during a regional meeting held in Washington, in a dialogue involving the foreign ministers of these countries. According to Reuters, this visit is being carried out as part of the US President Donald Trump's administration's strategy to develop relations with Central Asia.
This strategy places special emphasis on expanding cooperation in the field of natural resources. According to official information, during the visit, discussions will focus on joint projects with the countries in the region, responsible development of raw materials and rare earth elements, expanding economic cooperation, and ensuring stability.
In his speech, Marko Rubio emphasized that the US aims to develop relations with Central Asia not only based on geopolitical interests but as cooperation grounded in common interests. He noted the importance of responsible use of resources and ensuring they serve the interests of all parties.
According to Rubio, by strengthening strategic dialogue in Central Asia, the US aims not only to expand economic opportunities but also to reinforce regional security and stability. Additionally, a high-level meeting between Donald Trump and the leaders of Central Asian countries is planned to be held at the White House on November 6.
This meeting is expected to discuss projects related to the development of transport infrastructure, energy sources, technologies, and education. Analysts believe that Rubio's visit is part of the US strategy to strengthen its position in the region and create a balance against the influence of China and Russia.
As a result, Washington's relations with Central Asia may serve to open new economic and political chapters.
