An extraordinary medical incident occurred in the city of Omsk, Russia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Local doctors managed to remove a live parasite — a worm — from a woman’s eye. This event surprised not only the patient but also the doctors.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Health, the woman came to the hospital complaining that “something seemed to be moving under my eyebrow.” During an ophthalmological examination, a live parasite moving under the eye was detected.
The doctor carefully removed the parasite and recommended additional measures to the patient to protect against infections. Later it was identified that the parasite found in the woman’s eye belonged to the species called “dirofilaria,” which is usually transmitted from sick animals through mosquitoes.
Experts emphasize that dirofilaria does not multiply in the human body and does not pose a threat to others. However, it can grow inside the body, reaching 15–18 centimeters in length, which can cause significant discomfort and pain.
A similar incident recently occurred in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. There, doctors removed more than ten parasitic worms from the brain of a 10-year-old boy.
Doctors advise citizens to strictly observe hygiene, be cautious with animals, and take measures to protect against mosquitoes. Such precautions are of great importance for health care.
