The first case related to the Marburg virus has been recorded in the country. According to official data, nine people, including several healthcare workers, have been infected with this dangerous infectious disease.
Following this incident, the government has begun taking emergency measures. Border controls have been strengthened, and quarantine rules have been tightened.
To enable early detection of the disease, special testing systems have been introduced and inspection processes accelerated. The World Health Organization (WHO) responded promptly to this situation, providing Ethiopia with $300,000 in aid and necessary medical equipment.
According to experts, the Marburg virus shares characteristics with epidemics previously observed in Tanzania and Uganda. Currently, scientists continue working on developing an effective vaccine against this virus.
The local population is advised to strictly follow precautionary measures to protect themselves from the risk.
