The Omsk court sentenced an Uzbek citizen to 4 years in a high-security penal colony. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He was found guilty of beating a stranger and setting a dog on him. According to the court's first instance decision, the convict must pay nearly half a million rubles in compensation for moral damages to the victim.
However, appeals and cassation complaints filed with the regional court were rejected, and the sentence was deemed fair. According to investigation data, the incident occurred on July 9, 2023, at a gardening association in the city of Omsk.
The 36-year-old Uzbek citizen beat a stranger with a stick and his feet. The attack also involved a worker hired by the owner of the garden plot.
When the victim tried to escape, the garden plot owner released a dog on him. As a result, the dog bit the victim at least twenty times, causing serious injuries, including a skull fracture and other severe bodily harm.
In court, the accused partially admitted guilt, emphasizing that these actions were taken to protect property from theft. However, the court found that he intentionally inflicted serious bodily harm and declared him guilty.
The second person involved in the incident managed to escape and has not yet been held accountable.
