The US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has added the Datavice company operating in Uzbekistan to the "blacklist." This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to official information, this decision was made as part of expanding sanctions against certain companies related to Russia's digital sector. On November 19, the US imposed new sanctions on a number of companies and individuals for participating in cyberattacks and assisting in circumventing restrictions.
These measures are part of a comprehensive sanctions system adopted in response to the CAATSA law and the situation in Ukraine. Datavice was established in Tashkent in July 2023 and has been operating as an IT-Park resident since July 31.
The company's authorized capital amounts to 24 million soms. According to Orginfo data, Maksim Makarov is listed as the founder, head, and chief accountant of the company.
According to OFAC's decision, all assets of Datavice and other organizations included in the sanctions list under US jurisdiction are frozen. Furthermore, any financial transactions related to them are strictly prohibited.
Secondary sanctions may also be applied to those who violate these rules. Along with Datavice, the updated list includes the following companies: Media Land, ML.Cloud, Kirishi, Media Land Technology (Russia), Hypercore (United Kingdom), and Smart Digital Ideas Doo Cyber4 (Serbia).
Additionally, five Russian citizens associated with these organizations have also been subjected to restrictions. The US emphasized that technological capabilities are being used for military purposes or to circumvent sanctions and announced the strengthening of control measures.
This decision is expected to have a significant impact on the development of the digital sector in the region.
