The issue of ending the war in Ukraine has once again come to the forefront of the international agenda. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This time, the discussions are focused on a document proposed by the United States and referred to in the media as the "peace plan." Opinions suggest that this plan largely reflects Russia's interests, as it demands a unilateral concession from Ukraine.
One of the main initiators of the plan is said to be Steven Witkoff, a billionaire and close friend of former US President Donald Trump. He has previously participated in political debates and is now actively involved in developing a plan concerning Ukraine's fate.
On the Russian side, Kirill Dmitriev is noted as one of the primary authors of the plan. Dmitriev was born in Kyiv and later became known as a figure striving to increase his influence within Russian political circles.
According to the content of the plan, Ukraine must fulfill the following conditions: hand over Donbass to Russia, significantly reduce military forces, give up long-range weapons, make Russian an official state language, and impose restrictions on military infrastructure. At the same time, the absence of any demands towards Russia indicates the document's one-sided nature.
For this reason, many call it not a peace plan but a set of conditions tailored to Russia's interests. The fact that the plan is being discussed now may be related to Russia's successes on the front lines and corruption scandals in Ukraine.
Additionally, the cooling relations between Western countries and Ukraine likely influence these processes. In conclusion, this document is causing strong protests not only in Ukraine but also in Europe.
The terms of the plan are considered harsh and unacceptable for Ukraine's independence. Although Washington aims to end the war sooner, this price may be very costly for Ukraine.
At the same time, the disputes surrounding this plan indicate that a new phase has begun in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
