Searches have been conducted in the homes of several prominent figures in the country, and ten individuals have been detained. These events have sparked significant interest and concern among the public.
The detainees have been charged under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan. This article relates to preparation for organizing mass unrest.
The extensive operations carried out by law enforcement agencies have involved not only the suspects but also their relatives. On November 22, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the initiation of an investigation against politician Temirlan Sultanbekov.
He was suspected of calling for a change of power and was taken from his home. Additionally, Qodirbek Atambayev, son of former president Almazbek Atambayev, and other close associates were also questioned as part of the investigation.
Former deputies Shayloobek Atazov and Kubanichbek Qodirov, as well as former head of the financial police Siymik Japikeev, have also undergone investigations. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this group planned to cause instability in the country following the parliamentary elections.
During the rapid operations, weapons, ammunition, large sums of cash, and documents related to financing illegal activities were seized. Currently, Temirlan Sultanbekov, Qodirbek Atambayev, and Shayloobek Atazov are held in temporary detention facilities.
