Heavy rains that have been continuing for several days in southern Thailand are causing serious problems for the population. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to information released on November 25, the city of Hat Yai and nearby areas have been affected by floods. This situation was reported by the “France24” publication.
The government has declared a state of emergency in Songkhla province. The meteorological service has warned that rainfall will continue and floods may intensify.
According to the Department of Natural Disasters, the heavy rains in recent days have flooded large parts of Hat Yai and the southern regions. Floods in four provinces have resulted in 13 deaths.
Local TV channels are showing footage of rescuers evacuating people to safe places using boats, scooters, and military equipment. Since November 20, more than 1,200 residents in Songkhla city have been forced to leave their homes.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered the mobilization of additional equipment and boats to accelerate rescue operations. In Thailand, the monsoon season usually occurs from June to September.
However, due to climate change, unusually heavy rains are being observed, making it even more difficult to predict the situation in advance.
