Uzbekistani Alyona Aitova became the first woman to conquer the Island-Peak (Imjatse) summit in the Himalayas on behalf of our country. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
She shared videos about this successful expedition on her Instagram page. Aitova described conquering Island-Peak as her most difficult yet most unforgettable mountain journey.
This mountain is located in the Khumbu region, near the Everest massif, and is named Island-Peak due to its island-shaped silhouette among the glaciers. The mountain's height exceeds 6,100 meters.
The summit was first reached in 1956 by Hans-Rudolf von Gunten. Island-Peak is often known as a mountain chosen for preparation before climbing higher peaks of the Himalayas.
Previously, Alyona Aitova also successfully conquered Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest point, at an altitude of 5,800 meters. These achievements are opening a new chapter among Uzbekistani mountaineers.
