The Chinese government plans to introduce new measures to increase the birth rate. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Among these, a proposal to apply a 13 percent tax on contraceptives has been put forward. This was reported by the Bloomberg news agency.
It should be noted that since 1993, contraceptives have been exempt from taxes due to the "one family, one child" policy in effect in China. However, in recent years, a decline in the population has been observed in the country.
For example, in 2024, only 9.54 million babies were born in China. This figure is significantly lower than previous years when 18.8 million births were recorded.
The population has been decreasing for three consecutive years. The government considers abolishing taxes for parents to increase the population and improve social services.
This step plays an important role among the measures aimed at stabilizing the birth rate and ensuring population growth in China.
