An important decision has been made in China as part of the fight against corruption. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The court in Hubei province sentenced Li Gang, former head of the Discipline Inspection and Anti-Corruption Department of the Communist Party Central Committee, to 15 years in prison. He was found guilty of accepting bribes amounting to 102 million yuan (approximately 14.4 million dollars).
The court also fined him 6 million yuan (850 thousand dollars) and confiscated illegally obtained income. During the investigation, it was revealed that Li Gang abused his official powers from 1998 to 2024 by accepting bribes in exchange for business contracts, land purchases, promotions, and other privileges.
He engaged in corrupt activities while serving as deputy governor of Sichuan province and head of the organization department in the Yunnan provincial government. Li Gang was arrested in April 2024.
During the investigation, he admitted to his illegal activities and assisted in uncovering other corruption cases. For this reason, his sentence was mitigated.
Additionally, he returned a large portion of the stolen funds. The Chinese government is taking strict measures to strengthen the fight against corruption.
This case is regarded as an important step toward reinforcing justice in China's legislation and state governance.
