Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in India for a two-day official visit. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In Delhi, he was warmly welcomed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the visit, a number of agreements aimed at developing economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries are expected to be signed.
India is one of the largest buyers of Russian oil. In previous years, Russia's share in India's oil imports was 2.5 percent, but now this figure has reached 35 percent.
This change is related to obtaining price concessions on oil by taking advantage of Moscow's limited export opportunities. Cooperation in the defense sector is also continuing.
The Indian Air Force largely relies on Russian equipment, particularly Sukhoi-30 fighter jets and S-400 air defense systems. It is known that India plans to purchase S-500 systems and Su-57 fifth-generation fighters in the future.
Narendra Modi aims to further diversify trade and economic relations with Russia. Besides oil and defense sectors, developing cooperation in other industries is expected to play an important role in ensuring India's strategic independence and continuing collaboration with Western countries.
