Strong magnetic storms of G2-G3 level are expected in the Earth's atmosphere on December 9-10. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Russian Academy of Sciences provided this information. According to them, the strongest impact may occur in the afternoon of December 9.
Geomagnetic disturbances are expected to continue until December 11. Solar flares are regularly recorded, but only a small portion of them affect the Earth.
The last strong magnetic storm was observed on November 12-13, when a G4 level storm was recorded. On December 1, a plasma cloud affected the Earth from the side as a result of an X-class flare, causing geomagnetic activity close to G3 level.
Experts estimate that the strength of this magnetic storm may be similar. This event is expected to create favorable conditions for observing the polar lights.
However, scientists emphasize that the magnetic storm will not have serious negative consequences. The main effects may be limited to changes in the magnetic field and electromagnetic disturbances.
