The content of the 28-point peace plan proposed by the United States was revised during negotiations with Ukraine and reduced to 20 points. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced this in a statement to journalists on board the plane en route to Brussels. According to Zelenskiy, the initial version included several points that were against Kyiv's interests.
In the new edition, these were completely removed. The President stated that no sections contrary to Ukraine's interests remain.
He also added that the United States is seeking compromise solutions, but no resolution has yet been found regarding territorial issues. "Our position is firm: Ukraine will not give up any of its territory.
Russia continues to make such demands, but we do not accept them. This is exactly why we are fighting," Zelenskiy said.
The President also touched upon security guarantees. According to him, the most reliable guarantees for Ukraine can be provided by the United States.
However, these should not be "empty promises" like the Budapest Memorandum, but a document approved by the US Congress. Zelenskiy stated that the development of the peace plan will be completed by December 9 and the document will be ready to be sent to the US side.
European advisers are also assisting Ukraine in this process. From December 4 to 6, the Ukrainian delegation held meetings with US representatives in Miami.
Participants in the negotiations included Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine's Security Council, representatives of the General Staff, and representatives of the US President. Zelenskiy announced that he participated online on the last day of the meetings and had a meaningful discussion.
The future of the peace plan depends on the agreement between the United States and Ukraine, as well as Kyiv's refusal to give up its territorial positions.
