Important steps are being taken in Kazakhstan to introduce new technologies in the logistics sector. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Starting from 2027, driverless trucks will begin operating on the roads in the country on a trial basis. This was announced by Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport, Nurlan Sauranbayev.
Within the framework of the project, special infrastructure will be created in the country. Modern sensor systems necessary for autonomous transport are planned to be installed on the roads.
Currently, the initiative is being discussed with neighboring countries and partners of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). According to the minister, driverless trucks will help reduce queues at the border.
Because these types of vehicles will be integrated with the passport control system, the process will be carried out faster. Additionally, this innovation will serve to increase Kazakhstan's transit potential.
While a large part of the expenses in regular trucks is related to drivers' salaries and rest periods, autopilot vehicles will be able to operate around the clock. According to experts, this project will significantly optimize transport flow in the region.
At the same time, it will help improve efficiency in the freight transportation sector.
