
Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov demanded that the heads of the companies responsible for the freight wagon congestion at the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border be held accountable. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He requested the officials to provide a report on the situation. According to Talgat Aldibergenov, head of the "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" company, meetings were held on December 7-8 with the Uzbek Minister of Transport.
As a result of the meeting, Uzbekistan expressed readiness to accept up to 1,800 wagons of cargo daily. This agreement allowed the situation to stabilize and the resumption of grain exports.
Several important decisions were made during the meeting. In particular, a rapid response headquarters was established in Uzbekistan, and all responsible agencies switched to a round-the-clock working mode.
Additionally, Uzbekistan Railways announced its readiness to accept up to 1,800 wagons daily, including 35 trains consisting of 250 wagons carrying grain, flour, and other goods. Currently, the situation has stabilized, and grain exports have resumed.
It was noted that urgent measures were taken by Uzbekistan and that the responsible agencies are working tirelessly.
