Citizens enslaved in Myanmar were returned to their homeland
The consulates general of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan assisted in returning citizens who were victims of human trafficking to their homeland. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to the “Dunyo” news agency, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan was also returned home at the request of Bishkek.

The victims stated that they went to Thailand hoping to find high-paying jobs. However, upon arrival in the country, they were illegally taken to Myanmar and forced into labor in call centers through deception.

The rescued citizens were provided with temporary shelter and food. At the beginning of December, they were returned to their countries.

The Uzbek consulate general reminds citizens of the necessity to carefully examine job offers abroad. The consulate also announced its readiness to provide assistance regarding labor issues in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos.

According to information, this is not the first case of rescuing Central Asian citizens from labor slavery in Myanmar. Previously, citizens of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan have also been returned home.
