US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has removed senior army official Daniel Driscoll from the negotiation process aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to The Telegraph, Hegseth accused Driscoll of overstepping his authority. Sources cited by the publication indicate that Driscoll took on excessive responsibility, which led to his punishment.
Some sources even described Hegseth as "paranoid." This incident highlights political tensions within the Pentagon.
The report states that in November, Daniel Driscoll was tasked with presenting a US-developed plan to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. However, the meeting ended unsuccessfully, and the Ukrainian side rejected the proposal.
Following this, Driscoll's planned visit to Kyiv was also canceled. Additionally, he was unable to attend a meeting scheduled for December 1 in Paris with Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Pete Hegseth's decision may indicate significant changes in the US approach to the peace process in Ukraine. This could increase the likelihood of a reassessment of the US's active role on the international stage.
