NATO Secretary General Mark Ryutte emphasized in his speech in Berlin on December 11 that Russian President Vladimir Putin may not want the war against Ukraine to stop. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, Russia's goal may not be limited to Ukraine but could be broader. Therefore, NATO's main task should be aimed at stopping Russia's aggression, he said.
Ryutte called on NATO members to prevent the war and enhance defense capabilities. He stressed the need to strengthen military and financial aid to Ukraine.
He stated that Ukraine must receive the necessary means to defend itself immediately. "Our armed forces must be provided with all the necessary tools for defense," Ryutte said.
He also noted that NATO allies do not fully grasp the seriousness of the situation. In his opinion, time is not on NATO's side, and delaying actions could lead to major mistakes.
Ryutte also mentioned the US efforts to stop the war in Ukraine and emphasized the necessity to maintain pressure on Russia. Mark Ryutte warned about the possibility of Russia occupying Ukraine.
According to him, in such a case, the border between Russia and NATO could expand further, increasing the risk of armed conflict. This would require NATO to allocate new budgets, make significant changes in defense, and increase financial burdens.
Ryutte also highlighted the potential need for economic crises and reductions in government spending. According to him, the situation in Ukraine is closely linked to NATO's security.
Therefore, NATO must continue to assist Ukraine and take firm measures against Russia's aggressive actions.
