The Ukrainian leadership has rejected the peace plan proposed by the United States. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to The New York Times, Kyiv stated that it would not firmly accept some demands in the updated document presented by the US. In particular, Ukraine is not ready to concede on withdrawing its troops from Donetsk region and abandoning NATO membership.
The peace plan was developed following consultations with European countries, including London, Paris, and Berlin. Although the content of the document was approved by several Western officials, Ukraine succeeded in removing clauses it considered contrary to its interests.
Representatives of Europe and the US emphasized that Ukraine firmly defended the principles of maintaining control over its eastern territories and not renouncing NATO membership in the new document. However, Le Monde reported that Ukraine would consider withdrawing troops from Donetsk only on the condition that Russian forces also withdraw from the front line.
In recent days, the situation has escalated. Ukraine has intensified large-scale strikes on Russian territories using unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, over 400 drones were launched towards Russia over the weekend. Residential buildings in some cities were damaged, and casualties were reported.
Military analyst Igor Korotchenko believes that the attacks carried out by Ukraine are related to political processes. According to him, attacks on tankers in the Black Sea and other strikes can be seen as Kyiv’s open opposition to the US plan.
Korotchenko considers it necessary for Moscow to take strict retaliatory measures. In his opinion, strikes on Ukrainian ports and energy infrastructure will be the main factor weakening Kyiv.
Through this, the position of the Ukrainian government may weaken.
