Business sentiment in Germany unexpectedly declined in December. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to data provided by the Ifo Institute, the business climate index fell from 88.0 in November to 87.6. This situation differs from analysts' expectations, as they had forecasted a slight increase in the index.
Experts emphasize that economic growth in Germany has slowed down. Klaus Wohlrabe, director of the Ifo Institute, noted that there will be no positive changes for the German economy this year, stating that financial aid programs have not yet yielded significant results.
Other economic indicators are also low, indicating that the long-awaited economic recovery process has not yet begun. Part of the financial aid is directed towards expenses related to aging, while infrastructure projects require more time.
Ifo Institute president Clemens Fuest announced that companies hold a pessimistic view regarding the first half of 2026. The current economic situation has hardly changed and the year is ending with a bleak mood.
Although German Chancellor Friedrich Merz promised to implement reforms to revive the economy, these plans have not yet been put into effect.
