The administrative penalties imposed on 31 Uzbek students studying in Russia for violating migration rules have been canceled. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The information was provided by the press service of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis. It was revealed that during a mobile reception held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow, Uzbek students studying at the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" applied.
They reported facing problems related to migration registration. During the investigation, it was found that the university administration did not timely inform the authorized bodies about the procedures for extending the migration registration of foreign students.
As a result, the students overstayed in Russia beyond the permitted 90 days, which was considered a violation of migration rules. Consequently, they were fined 40,000 rubles each.
This issue was brought under control by the Russian Human Rights Commissioner and reviewed in cooperation with the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Following the investigation, the students' temporary residence periods were extended, and a decision was made not to impose fines or administrative deportation measures against them.
Additionally, as a result of this case, migration-related problems of more than 200 students from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Belarus studying in Russia were also positively resolved.
