Employees faced serious difficulties as a result of attacks on two popular newspaper offices in Bangladesh. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The incident occurred on Thursday. Protesters, expressing their dissatisfaction with the death of young activist Sharif Osman Hadi, who was shot dead last week, attacked the newspaper buildings and set them on fire.
During the incident, newspaper employees experienced breathing difficulties. Some employees climbed onto the roof of the building and waited for help for several hours.
They were only brought to safety after additional security forces arrived and rescued them. A large part of the buildings suffered serious damage from the fire.
The government strongly condemned the incident and promised to hold the criminals accountable. Officials described the attack on journalists as an attack on the truth and emphasized the importance of maintaining stable democratic processes in the country.
Sharif Osman Hadi was 32 years old and was one of the leaders of the student protests. He was shot dead on December 12 by unknown masked individuals.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and several individuals have been detained.
