
Nearly 500 thousand people have been forced to leave their homes due to the conflict at the Cambodia-Thailand border. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Cambodian press agency, the majority of those evacuated are women and children. As a result of the conflict, a total of 498.2 thousand people have been relocated to safe areas across 14 provinces.
During the clashes, 18 civilians were killed and 78 people were injured. The conflict that occurred in December damaged 73 residential buildings, several religious structures, and urban infrastructure.
In this confrontation that began on December 7, Cambodian and Thai forces targeted each other's border areas. The Cambodian Ministry of Defense accused Thai military personnel of carrying out threatening actions in the border areas.
In response, Thai officials stated that they had launched attacks on Cambodian positions. Although the leaders of the two countries reached an agreement to cease fire on December 12, Thai officials later announced that the conflict might continue.
Currently, the situation in the region remains tense.
