Three people died and nine were injured as a result of a stabbing attack in the metro of Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The attack was carried out by 27-year-old Chang Wen. He first used smoke bombs at the central metro station, then moved to another station and attacked passengers with a knife.
The attacker later died after falling from a multi-story building. The reasons for the incident are currently unknown.
Such incidents are rare in Taiwan. The last similar event occurred in 2014.
The incident took place at 17:20 local time, during the busiest time in the city center. Videos circulating on social media show people panicking and fleeing, while the attacker is seen moving with a large knife in his hand.
Taiwan's Prime Minister Cho Jung-tai ordered to strengthen security measures at metro, railway stations, and airports. President William Lai instructed a prompt investigation and inquiry into the incident.
Currently, the relevant authorities are working to determine the attacker's motives and identify any other possible related individuals.
