On December 18, an unexpected natural event – snowfall – was observed in some regions of Saudi Arabia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This event attracted special attention as it was the first time in the last 30 years that snowfall was recorded in the country. According to the Anadolu news agency, the snow mainly fell in the northwestern and central regions.
Local media described the snowfall in Riyadh city and its surroundings as a “very rare event.” Al Arabiya TV channel called this event “historic,” emphasizing that such weather has not been seen in the country for many years.
Meteorologists had previously announced that the temperature could drop sharply. Due to hail, heavy rain, and thunderstorms in some areas, the weather risk was classified as red and dark orange levels.
Additionally, publications noted that not only in Saudi Arabia but also in other Arab countries, heavy rains are falling under the influence of cold air currents. Experts associate this situation not with seasonal changes but with climate change.
