The longest solar eclipse of the century is approaching. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This unique astronomical event is expected to occur on August 2, 2027. According to NASA data, this eclipse will be the longest lasting eclipse in the last hundred years.
In some regions, daytime will turn into darkness lasting more than 6 minutes. The solar eclipse will mainly be observed in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
The total eclipse will begin in southern Morocco and Spain, passing through Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt. Then the event will head towards the Middle East.
Especially in the Egyptian cities of Luxor and Aswan, observation conditions are expected to be very favorable. In these locations, the eclipse will last more than 6 minutes, entering history as the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century.
During the event, a number of amazing sights can be witnessed: the Sun will completely disappear behind the Moon, the air temperature will drop, stars will begin to appear in the sky, and the Sun’s outer layer — the solar corona — will be clearly visible. Experts emphasize that the duration of a total solar eclipse depends on the relative positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun.
In 2027, this alignment will be nearly perfect, and the eclipse will last 6 minutes and 23 seconds. The next similarly long solar eclipse is expected to be observed only in 2045.
