Political and military tensions around Venezuela have reached their peak. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Following the "complete blockade" announced by US President Donald Trump and the deployment of warships to the Caribbean Sea, reports have emerged that Russia is evacuating its diplomats and their families from Venezuela. This information was provided by the Associated Press (AP) agency, citing European intelligence sources.
According to them, the Russian Foreign Ministry considers the situation in Venezuela "desperate." However, Moscow denied these reports.
The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the situation is under control and showed photos of the New Year celebration organized for Russian children in Caracas. Donald Trump is taking tough measures against the Venezuelan government.
Washington has accused the Maduro regime of narcoterrorism and illegal oil trading, taking several economic and military steps. Among them, a full blockade has been imposed on oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela, military forces have been mobilized to the Caribbean Sea, and two large oil tankers were stopped in international waters.
Additionally, the US government has offered a $50 million reward for the capture of Nicolas Maduro. Russia continues to support Venezuela.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia is ready to assist Caracas against US economic pressure. However, the increasing military tension is putting the safety of Moscow's diplomatic mission in Venezuela at risk.
Currently, the White House is reportedly also considering options for a ground military operation in Venezuela. This could lead to the start of a new major conflict in the region.
