Gary Vetter, a farmer living in Iowa, USA, has been engaged in livestock farming since he was 10 years old. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He has faced various difficulties over 55 years, but former President Donald Trump's statement about lowering meat prices negatively affected his work. In October, Trump emphasized that meat prices were excessively high and spoke about measures to reduce them.
He increased meat imports from Argentina, abolished customs duties on meat coming from Brazil, and ordered inspections of producers. These measures led to a decrease in livestock prices.
However, meat prices have not significantly decreased for consumers. Farmers are dissatisfied with this situation.
Livestock farmers in Iowa and Florida are suffering great losses due to the decline in cattle prices. For example, Gary Vetter paid $2,500 per head for 450 cattle in October, but by the end of November, the cattle price had dropped by $300.
According to experts, the price reductions will not be immediately noticeable to consumers. At the same time, the US has lost its leading position to Brazil in terms of meat production volume.
Farmers hope that the cattle market will stabilize in the future.
