Military tensions are escalating in the European region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the latest satellite images, Russia has begun deploying its modern "Oreshnik" hypersonic ballistic missiles on Belarusian territory. This is taking place just 180 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Specifically, construction work has been noted at the former "Krichev-6" airbase located in Belarus's Mogilev region. American researchers believe there is a high likelihood that mobile missile launchers will be installed here.
Construction began in August, and the base is situated only 5 kilometers from the Russian border. This location is considered a strategic threat to NATO and Ukraine.
The "Oreshnik" missiles have the capability to destroy targets up to 5,500 kilometers away. These weapons were first used in Ukraine in November.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier announced plans to deploy these systems in Belarus. Experts view this as a warning directed at NATO countries.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko described this move as a measure aimed at ensuring the country's security. The "Oreshnik" complexes are expected to officially enter combat duty in December of this year.
During the "Zapad-2025" military exercises held in September, scenarios for using these systems were developed. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Belarus of surrendering its sovereignty to Russia.
He called Russia's actions part of an aggressive policy and urged international partners to take countermeasures together. In this context, the question remains open whether the deployment of "Oreshnik" missiles in Belarus could further intensify conflicts in the region.
