The design code project for Tashkent city has been published on the regulation.gov.uz portal for public discussion. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The document proposes new approaches to organizing parking lots within the capital's territory. This project is aimed at developing transport traffic and urban infrastructure.
According to the project, parking spaces can be established on streets with relatively low traffic density, at transport interchange hubs, and in the outskirts of the city. In this case, parking lots and pedestrian areas must be clearly separated with defined boundaries.
Conversely, the establishment of parking lots will be restricted on streets with high vehicle traffic, pedestrian streets, and city squares. In residential neighborhoods, small-scale "parking pockets" will be allowed.
In areas with Soviet-era or modern residential buildings, it is recommended to build centralized parking lots instead of scattered parking spaces. Parking lots around markets, cultural, and recreational centers will be designed based on the number of people using them.
Special spaces will be allocated for persons with disabilities, and comfortable conditions for pedestrians will be ensured. It is also proposed to relocate parking lots in recreational areas outside the main zones.
Additionally, "park-and-ride" lots that enable drivers to leave their cars and switch to public transport are designated as a priority direction. These measures serve to optimize the city's transport system.
