2025 was recorded as one of the harshest years for executions in Iran. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to human rights organizations, more than 1900 executions were carried out in the country within one year. This figure is the highest in the last 11 years and raises serious concerns.
The annual report published by the "Human Rights Activists in Iran" organization highlights that the number of executions nearly doubled compared to the previous year. However, the number of new death sentences issued by courts slightly decreased.
This situation raises many questions about how executions are being carried out in the country. The most worrying aspect is that the majority of executions were conducted secretly.
According to the report, approximately 95 percent of executions were not announced by official sources. This information was gathered through relatives of prisoners, lawyers, prison staff, and local sources.
Analysts emphasize that due to the system's secrecy, the actual numbers may be even higher. This situation indicates that human rights issues in Iran have become more severe and require serious attention from the international community.
